Girard Metal Recycling was built on hard work, industry knowledge, and a commitment to delivering real value to customers. The company’s foundation dates back to 1991, when owner Sam Stergo began hauling scrap metal chips and materials for a local manufacturing companies in Cleveland, Ohio. What started as a small operation quickly grew into a full-service solution, expanding into loading, rigging, and the dismantling of industrial equipment.
With decades of hands-on experience, Sam developed the expertise to take on larger, more complex projects across the United States. Along the way, he built a strong network of trusted contractors, allowing Girard Metal Recycling to scale operations and handle jobs of any size—from single-site cleanups to full plant dismantling and nationwide industrial projects.
By the early 2000s, the business expanded into global markets through partnerships with scrap metal exporters. Girard Metal Recycling began sourcing insulated copper wire, electric motors, transformers, and other valuable materials from scrap yards, electrical contractors, and demolition companies—preparing and loading them into overseas containers for export.
In March 2004, Girard Metal Recycling officially opened its facility in Girard, Ohio, establishing itself as a reliable buyer and processor of ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The company quickly became known for its transparency, competitive pricing, and ability to handle both commercial and public transactions with efficiency and professionalism.
As demand continued to grow, the company relocated in 2022 to a larger, more capable facility to better serve its expanding customer base. That same year marked a major milestone, as Sam’s two sons, Tom and Nicholas, joined the business—bringing new energy, continuity, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Today, Girard Metal Recycling has processed and managed millions of pounds of scrap metal through services that include loading, cutting, rigging, hauling, packaging, and logistics. From local jobs to nationwide industrial projects, the company delivers dependable service backed by decades of real-world experience.
